Sampson of Sales

Sampson sells the new C-P advertising campaign to a sceptical audience

Sampson of Sales is a breezy extrovert. Like all salesman he is never happier than telling a dirty story to a customer with a drink in his hand. If he has to come into the office to “catch up on the paperwork”, then he will spend all day in a card school in the rep's room. Scorning traffic wardens he hurtles round the city in his car. Sometimes Bristow is lucky to get a lift into work with him.

On the one day in the year that Bristow gets out of the office - on the firm's outing - he is not too surprised to find Sampson already ensconsed on the beach strip 1139. Sampson’s boozing leads him to lose his driving licence for a spell but the moment he gets it back he is once more behind the wheel on his way to the nearest pub. Bristow seems to envy him. Although he would rather be a brain surgeon, if he has to work for C-Ps then he would work outside the office. Sampson’s apparent freedom from desks and bosses looks like escape to Bristow. And he certainly has a good grasp of saleman's lingo strip 2617

Sadly Sampson does not learn his lesson and loses his licence a second time. Now he has to resort to a bicycle to get around town. But he is ever resourceful. He had arranged to meet Bristow, while the latter was on holiday. Bristow, relaxing on the beach thinks Sampson had no way to get there but he has to think again
